Mid-March is here and I'm feeling what the locals have been describing to me as WINTER. I know for you Boston and Colorado friends dropping suddenly in the past 24 hours to low 50s doesn't seem cold, but IT IS. The wind is blowing, the rain sheets down in horizontal torrents - and a chill seeps through the air like in a good mystery novel. Highs today were in the low 60s, so you know we're talking SERIOUS COLD weather here! I posted before about Rattling Windows, so combine that scene with the fact that I have no heat. I could have a small electric room heater, but the "winter" has been so mild that I didn't need one; alas.
Well, there is some good news among all this bleakness. The garden is blooming --literally -- and growing faster than I can imagine. The bananas are just ripening and I suspect the next few months will be non-stop bunches of munches. There are so many loquats I can't pick them all, and I'd get a tummy-ache if I dared eat more than I already chomp. In fact, other than the weather ... all seems to be going quite well :) but somehow that is less-than-surprising given what I've experienced here so far.
Remember ... visitors are welcome!

I really feel sorry for you and the cold weather. We are hoping for 60 degrees today. We did have a snow shower on Saturday. Hopefully this was the last snow for the season.
Have you heard of the book The Ruins by Scott Smith. You better be careful with this rapidly growing vegetation.

On the bright side, the water worries should be helped by the rain. I understand about the weather, though. Wet cold is much colder than a dry cold; it's what we get here in TX and the wind just makes it colder. And, no heat. Yikes. I hope you took a couple of pairs of sweats. :)
