GALE Warning
Okay, so I'm not exactly sure about this ... GALE WARNING ... so what exactly does that mean? Yeah, I get it if you're on a little boat in the harbour it's time to tie up to the dock or drop anchor or something. I've seen people closing shutters. (Most houses here have full length window shutters that aren't 'ornamental' but quite functional.) I understood these were used if going off-island for a while or in case of hurricanes. I guess I need to figure just how close "gale" is to "hurricane". Oh, just Sooooo much to learn living here! It's a challenge, but I guess as long as I HAVE these nice white shutters, maybe I'll CLOSE them and be snug as can be tonight!

Take the chimes down.

I agree with Shirley. Think Gale force winds. They'll be strong. Maybe consider battening down the hatches. That's probably all a part of island living.
I got curious and looked it up. Hit Wikipedia of course. It does have to do with allowing mariners to take precautions to ensure safety at sea. In the US, it's winds in the range of 39-54 mph. The whole entry is interesting, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gale_warning
